At the end of 15 overs, SRH was at 134/5, with Abdul Samad (5*) and Markram (38*) unbeaten. They needed 38 runs in the final five overs.
The next two overs bowled by Varun Chakravarthy and Vaibhav Arora were cheap, giving away only three and five runs respectively. Arora also got the wicket of skipper Markram, who was dismissed for 41 off 40 balls. Rinku Singh took a great catch. SRH was at 145/6 in 16.5 overs.
SRH needed 26 off 18 balls.
Vaibhav dismissed Marco Jansen for just 1. SRH was reduced to 152/7 in 18.2 overs. Gurbaz took a brilliant catch to dismiss Jansen.
A no-ball from Vaibhav and a total of 12 runs conceded in the 19th over left SRH with nine runs in the final over to win.
After a single and a bye, Samad was caught near the boundary for 21 off 18 balls. SRH was at 165/8 in 19.3 overs, needing seven in three balls.
SRH failed to complete the chase, finishing at 166/8 in 20 overs. KKR won the match by five runs.
Shardul Thakur (2/23) and Vaibhav (2/32) impressed KKR with their bowling. Andre, Anukul, Varun and Harshit got a wicket each.
Earlier, Nitish Rana's 42 and Rinku Singh's 46 helped Kolkata Knight Riders reach a respectable total of 171/9 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Nitish Rana scored 42 of 31 balls while Rinku Singh smashed 46 in 35 balls.
Choose to bat first, KKR lost early wickets. In the 2nd over, Marco Jansen took two wickets, dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz on a duck and KKR's key batter Venkatesh Iyer at 7 off 4 balls. KKR was reduced to 16/2 in two overs.
Kolkata lost their third wicket in the 5th over when Kartik Tyagi got the scalp of Jason Roy (20) after he got a top edge and Mayank Agarwal took a simple catch on a third man. KKR was 35/3 in 4.4 overs.
After the end of the powerplay, Kolkata were at 49/3.
KKR reached to 50 runs mark in 6.1 overs, with Nitish Rana (12*) and Rinku Singh (6*) at the crease.
Nitish and Rinku Singh steered the innings as they brought a 50-run partnership off 30 balls.
Nitish in the 10th over started to accelerate the run rate. He hit two sixes and one four on Kartik Tyagi's deliveries, taking 17 runs in the over.
KKR was 90/3 in 10 overs, with Nitish (40*) and Rinku (17*) unbeaten.
Nitish Rana became the target of Aiden Markram's bowl. He scored 42 off 31 balls. KKR was at 96/4 in 11.2 overs. Kolkata reached to 100-run mark in 11.5 overs.
Coming to the crease, Russell seemed in his natural form hitting two maximums and one four, but his batting did not last long as he got out in Markande's bowling. He scored 24 off 15 balls. KKR was at 127/5 in 14.2 overs.

Air India on Thursday said it has received an overwhelming response for its recruitment drive for pilots and has got more than 700 applications in the past week.
The airline, which currently has more than 1,800 pilots, has placed orders for 470 aircraft with Boeing and Airbus, including for wide-body planes.
On April 27, the carrier issued an advertisement for more than 1,000 pilots. It is looking for captains, first officers and trainers across A320, B777, B787 and B737 fleet.
In a statement on Thursday, an Air India spokesperson said the airline has received an overwhelming response to its recruitment advertisement for pilots released late last week.
"The recruitment of pilots is in preparation for the augmented large fleet of 470 aircraft. We have already received over 700 applications in the last few days as response to the advertisement which is under process. As continuation of this recruitment process we are conducting walk-in interviews in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru," it said.
Many pilots of cash-strapped Go First, which has filed for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings, are also looking for other opportunities, including at Air India, according to industry sources.
Tata Group has four airlines -- Air India, Air India Express, AIX Connect and Vistara, which is a joint venture with Singapore Airlines. The group is in the process of merging Air India Express and AIX Connect as well as Vistara with Air India.

IPL 2023: Kishan, Suryakumar Steal Show As MI Beat PBKS By 6 Wickets
Ishan Kishan's stylish 75 off 41 balls was complemented by Suryakumar Yadav's 360 degree effort that fetched 66 off 31 balls as Mumbai Indians powered to a six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in an IPL match, on Wednesday. Uncapped Jitesh Sharma (49; 27b) matched T20 specialist Liam Livingstone (82 not out; 42b) in flair and flamboyance as the duo stepped up in style in the back end to propel Punjab Kings to a fighting 214/3 after Mumbai Indians opted to bowl. But Ishan was at his furious best in a 41-ball 75 (7x4, 4x6), while Suryakumar Yadav batted with his usual flair in a 31-ball 66 (8x4, 2x6) to make a mockery of 200-plus chase, winning with seven balls to spare.
The duo added 116 runs from just 55 balls as MI raced to the target with seven balls to spare to secure their fifth win from nine matches.
Arshdeep Singh took a stunning catch to dismiss Suryakumar off Aussie seamer Nathan Ellis (2/34) and then he came to bowl the next over and accounted for Ishan with a knuckle ball.
The duo were dismissed in eight runs to open up the match with 37 runs needed off 22 balls but Tim David (19 not out) and Tilak Verma (26 not out) sealed the chase.
Tilak Verma (26 not out off 10 balls) launched mercilessly into Arshdeep Singh, who went for 66 in 3.5 overs as it finished in a jiffy in the end.
The win pushed MI (10 points from nine matches) to top-six, ahead of Punjab (10 from 10 matches) on net run-rate.
From being 0/1, it was only a one-way traffic for Mumbai Indians with Ishan forging a counter-attacking fifty-plus partnership with Cameron Green (23; 18b) to set the tempo.
The duo got it going against Punjab's ace pacer Arshdeep Singh, hitting him for 16 runs.
Ishan first showed the way with Cameron Green (23 off 18 balls) in a fifty-plus partnership to show the way after their five-time title winning skipper Rohit Sharma capped a three-ball duck in his 200th appearance for his franchise.
The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter batted at his belligerent best and gave Mumbai a perfect start in company of Suryakumar.
It was then Suryakumar show that lit up Mohali when he batted with disdain against Sam Curran to race to a 23-ball fifty, his third this season and 19th overall.
Suryakumar, who came in as Impact Substitue for debutant Akash Madhwal, suddenly opened the face of his blade to a wide Curran delivery and cleared the backward point boundary with utmost ease.
Curran retuned with a wide fullish delivery and Surya had no problem reaching to it, as he went down on his knee to sail the ball over to 87-metre.
The next ball he gave a return catch to Curran but it was too difficult for the pacer as he smashed two more boundaries to get 23 runs from the over.
There was no looking back for the MI duo who kept scoring in boundaries to bring the equation down to 45 runs from last five five overs.
Earlier, Livingstone raced to season's first fifty in 32 balls and ended up being the top-scorer with 82 not out (42b), studded with seven boundaries and four sixes.
Giving Livingstone a perfect support, PBKS glovesman Sharma continued to impress as he remained unbeaten on 49 (27b) in a 119-run fourth wicket partnership that came off just 53 balls.
Livingstone was at his furious best when he smacked his English teammate Jofra Archer for three sixes in a row in the 19th over.
There was no slam-bang approach but sheer orthodox hits on both sides of the wicket from the Vidarbha keeper-batter.
Sharma looked fluent, be it against the guile of legspinner Chawla or sheer raw pace from Archer as he hit five fours and two sixes, only to remain stranded one run shy of a maiden IPL fifty.
MI was letdown big time by their star English pacer Archer who looked rusty and conceded 56 from his full quota.
It was yet another poor show from the MI bowlers at the back-end as they gave away 115 runs from 48 balls to concede a fourth successive 200-plus score.
At 99/3 in 12 overs after Chawla's tidy spell of 2/29, MI looked to have tightened the noose after Rohit Sharma opted to bowl.
The duo of Livingstone and Sharma upped the ante in the next over when they took Archer to cleaners in an over that yielded 21 runs.
Coming back from an injury, Archer looked wayward and bowled a waist high full toss which would have been a nasty blow but his English teammate managed to put it away.
Sharma then unleashed his fury smashing Archer four boundaries to get into the groove.
On batting-belter, Chawla smartly varied his pace and quietly did his job, dismissing a dangerous-looking Shikhar Dhawan (30; 20b) and Matthew Short (27; 26b) in the middle overs.
Having got a reprieve on 23, Dhawan started to break the shackles and stepped out Chawla for a boundary over the bowler's head.
Dhawan tried to repeat the same in the next delivery but this time the veteran legspinner had the last laugh when he outfoxed the lefthander, altering his length.
Fresh from their humdinger of a win against Chennai, PBKS could not find their mojo up front after Rohit Sharma opted to bowl.
Returning to the same venue where their bowlers were hammered by Lucknow Super Giants to post a mammoth 257/5, PBKS started on a jittery note.
Prabhsimran Singh got out in the second over, while Dhawan as always was a slow-starter.

IPL 2023: Mohammed Shami's 4-Wicket Haul In Vain As DC Beat GT By 5 Runs
Aman Khan's maiden T20 fifty was beautifully complemented by the pacers as Delhi Capitals kept their playoff hopes alive with a tense five-run win over Gujarat Titans in the IPL on Tuesday. Bowling impeccable lengths, Mohammed Shami (4/11 in four overs) was lethal with the new ball as he knocked the wind out of the Capitals' top order, as Gujarat Titans restricted DC to 130 for eight after being asked to bowl. Aman (51 off 44) waged a lone battle, putting some much-need runs on the board. He added 50 off 54 balls with Axar Patel (27) and 53 off 27 balls with Ripal Patel (23).
In reply, Hardik Pandya's (59 off 53) sedate fifty and Rahul Tewatia's (20) hattrick of sixes were not enough as Delhi bowlers held their nerves to stop the defending champions at 125 for 6.
It was the third win of the season for Delhi, who continue to remain at the bottom of the table, while Gujarat continued to remain on the top spot.
Defending a modest target, Delhi quicks were able to make an early breakthrough, as Gujarat lost three wickets inside the powerplay.
If 'Impact Player' Khaleel Ahmed (2/24) bowled a beautiful first over which was a wicket-maiden, pace spearhead Anrich Nortje (1/39) got rid of the dangerous Shubman Gill (6).
Veteran pacer Ishant Sharma (2/23) too joined the party as he outfoxed Vijay Shankar (6) with a perfectly executed knuckle ball.
Wickets continued to tumble with the introduction of the slow bowlers, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (1/15) bamboozled David Miller (0) in the seventh over.
Pandya and Abhinav Manohar (26) steadied the Gujarat ship with 62-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Pandya anchored the innings with Tewatia hitting three back-to-back sixes off the penultimate over. But with 12 needed off the final over, Ishant gave away just six runs while taking the vital wicket of Tewatia. Earlier, Delhi once again suffered a dramatic collapse, losing five wickets for 23 runs inside five overs and at the centre of it all was Shami.
The veteran Indian pacer set the tone of the match as he struck off the first ball of the game to get Phil Salt for a golden duck.
A horrible mix up between young Priyam Garg (10) and skipper David Warner (2) cost Delhi the wicket of the Australian in the second over.
Rilee Rossouw (8) was next to depart as Shami struck once again. The veteran Indian induced slight movement away from Rossouw. An outside edge led the ball to straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha's gloves as Delhi fell to 16 for three.
With Shami bowling a tight opening spell, captain Hardik Pandya decided to continue bowling the pacer and the move paid dividends. Shami continued his wicket-taking streak in his third over, snaring two in his final over.
The Indian bowled a wobble seam delivery, tempting Manish Pandey (1) to drive it but the late movement meant the ball found the edge of the bat and Saha completing a stunning one handed catch diving to his right.
Shami's final victim of the night was Garg with Saha yet again completing another catch behind the stumps.
With half the side back in the dugout, the Capitals, who are at the bottom of the points table and need to win this game to stay alive in the race for the playoffs, were tottering at 28 for five at the end of the Powerplay.
Axar Patel (27), who was promoted up the order, and Aman did stem the rot with some much-needed runs but pacer Mohit Sharma (2/33) broke the 50-run partnership as he snared the wicket of the Delhi vice-captain.
Aman punished Mohit Sharma in the 16th over, hitting a boundary past short third and a flat six over fine leg as DC inched closer to the 100-run mark.
The uncapped Aman brought up a much-needed half century in 41 balls.
His innings was studded with three hits to the fence and as many over it.
