"Can't Really Understand...": IPL Winning Coach On Rahul For Batting Late
Lucknow Super Giants had a forgettable outing on Monday as they faced an 18-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL 2023 match. Apart from losing the match, LSG faced a huge blow as their skipper KL Rahul sustained an injury. Rahul pulled his right thigh muscle in the second over of RCB innings while trying to stop a boundary. This resulted in him, leaving the ground in the first innings and finally returning to bat at No 11 during the 19th over of LSG's chase. However, LSG had already lost their grip over the match by that time and Rahul could not make any difference as RCB defended a low total 126.
After the match ended in RCB's favour, former Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody did not mince his words and criticised the LSG skipper for not coming to bat earlier in the chase.
“I can't really understand. If he was going to go in, he was supposed to go in during the middle of the game and see if he can hopefully hit you know three or four boundaries. Get a quick 12, 20, whatever it might be and hopefully cause no further damage to his injury," Moody said after the match on ESPNcricinfo.

RCB never had momentum in their innings despite the opening pair of skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli sharing a 62-run partnership.

Later, it turned out to be a nightmare for LSG as they got bundled out for 108 after Josh Hazlewood and Karn Sharma scalped two wickets each.

Provident Fund Body Extends Deadline To Apply For Higher Pension Till June
Retirement fund body EPFO has extended the date for filing applications to opt for a higher pension till June 26, 2023.
In order to provide a larger window of opportunity and in order to enable all eligible persons to file their applications, the timeline for filing applications would now be till 26th June, 2023, according to a statement.
"The EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) has made arrangements for obtaining applications for validation of option/joint option from pensioners/members as per the Supreme Court order on November 4, 2022," labour ministry said in a statement.
To facilitate this process, online facility has been made available.
More than 12 lakh applications have been received till date.
The online facility was to remain available only till May 3, 2023.
In the meantime, many representations have been received from various quarters seeking extension of time.
The issue has been considered and it has been decided that in order to provide a larger window of opportunity and in order to enable all eligible persons to file their applications, the timeline for filing applications would now be till 26th June, 2023, it stated.
The timeline is being extended to facilitate and provide ample opportunity to the pensioners/members so as to to ease out any difficulty being faced by them.
This has been decided after sympathetically considering the various demands received from employees, employers and their associations, it stated.

Updated IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap List Post LSG vs RCB
Aided by KL Rahul's injury early in the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore did just enough to eke out an 18-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in a low-scoring Indian Premier League game at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday. LSG skipper Rahul pulled his right thigh muscle in the second over of RCB innings while trying to stop a boundary and came out to bat only towards the end, which acted in favour of the visitors. LSG dished out a fine bowling display to restrict RCB to a below-par 126 after being asked to bowl first.
Later, it turned out to be a nightmarish start for LSG while chasing a modest 127-run target. They were eventually bundled out for 108.
The win helped RCB gain a spot and rise to the fifth position. Punjab Kings thus slipped to the sixth spot.
On the other hand, a loss to LSG saw them slipping a place from number 2. Their latest position is number 3 as Rajasthan Royals have now gone a spot above them. The table is topped by Gujarat Titans.

With his 44-run knock against LSG, Faf du Plessis (466 runs) has climbed to the no. 1 spot, surpassing Rajasthan Royals' Yashasvi Jaiswal (428) in the tally. Devon Conway (414) continues to be at the third spot, while Virat Kohli moved to the fourth spot with 364 runs under his belt now. Ruturaj Gaikwad (354) completes the top 5.
Chennai Super Kings pacer Tushar Deshpande is the current holder of the Purple Cap with 17 scalps in 8 matches. He has a strike-rate of 11.76 though his economy rate is on the higher side, at 11.07. He is now followed by RCB's Mohammed Siraj who has 15 wickets. Punjab Kings' Arshdeep Singh, with 15 wickets, is at the third spot.

The IPL 2023 game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Lucknow on Monday was witness to some ugly scenes as RCB star batter Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had a heated exchange. Throughout the match, Kohli could be seen being quite animated after the LSG wickets fell. The last time when LSG and RCB clashed in Bengaluru in an IPL 2023 game, Gambhir had gestured towards the Bengaluru crowd with a 'shut up' sign. It is not clear whether Virat was reacting to that. But after the match ended, the two shook hands and things looked perfectly normal. Then, LSG opener Kyle Mayers walked up to Kohli and started saying something to the RCB great.
It was at this point, Gambhir came and took Mayers away. A little while after this incident, visuals from the match showed Gambhir being quite animated and saying something towards Kohli, who seemed to be the calmer person between the two. Other players, including KL Rahul, and support staff separated the two. Then, Kohli was seen having a lengthy chat with LSG captain Rahul.

Talking about the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in their Indian Premier League match on Monday.
LSG restricted Royal Challengers Bangalore to 126 for nine. In reply, the hosts were tottering at 27 for four and then 65 for six in the 11th over. Eventually, LSG were all out for 108 in 19.5 overs. Skipper Faf du Plessis scored 44 off 40 balls after RCB won the toss and opted to bat first, while Virat Kohli consumed 30 deliveries in making 31 at the top of the order.
Naveen-ul-Haq was the most successful bowler for LSG, taking three wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi finished with impressive figures of 2/21 in his full quota of four overs. Amit Mishra also picked up two wickets for LSG, while Krunal Pandya bowled economically to end with figures of 0/21 in four overs.

"Not Happy With Batting Position": Pakistan Star Batter Rizwan Declares
Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammed Rizwan on Monday revealed that he would bat at number four instead of his current position, number five in the ODIs, with which he is not pleased but is doing for the sake of his side. Speaking at the press conference before the third ODI against New Zealand, a candid Mohammad Rizwan revealed his preferred batting position in the 50-over format. Rizwan has played a crucial role in Pakistan being 2-0 up in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. In both games, the hosts were tasked with chasing and Rizwan remained unbeaten each time to guide his team home.
Batting at No.5, Rizwan calmly stroked a 34-ball 42* while chasing 289 to win in the first ODI and followed it up with an unbeaten half-century (54* off 41) as Pakistan hunted down a solid target of 337 in the next match.
However, the ever-so-candid Rizwan revealed that he was not pleased to be batting at No.5 and would rather bat at No.4, adding that he is happy to sacrifice his position for the sake of the team.
"If you ask me honestly, I am not happy batting at number five [in ODIs], because I want to bat at number four," Rizwan said at the press conference as quoted by ICC.
"But it is not important that I get what I want. The captain and coach will do what they like. It is my own wish to bat at number four. But I have not complained to anyone. I have been sacrificing for the last 15 or 16 years and still not complaining. We are ready to do what the captain and coach ask us to do."
The wicketkeeper batter has always been a team man, evidenced by the fact that he has played in all middle and lower-order positions in ODIs, right from No.4 to No.8. Having made his debut in 2015, Rizwan started off at No.6 but has established himself in the team, he made the No.4 spot his own since 2019.
Prior to the series, Rizwan had extremely meagre returns batting at No.5, scoring just 106 runs in 6 games at an average of 17.66. However, the 30-year-old seems to have gotten a grip on his new role with match-winning contributions in both games against New Zealand.
At number four in ODIs, he has scored 135 runs in six matches and five innings at an average of 33.75, with a century. He has been highly successful as the first batter, scoring 463 at an average of 51.44 in 14 matches with four half-centuries and a strike rate of over 87.
Despite being 2-0 up, Pakistan cannot afford to be complacent in the five-match ODI series. The hosts were in a similar position in the T20I series in Rawalpindi before New Zealand mounted a brilliant comeback to level the series 2-2.
The action now shifts to Karachi and according to Rizwan, the team is keen to wrap up the series and not have a repeat of the T20Is.
"Every game is important to us," Rizwan noted. "We want to forget the past, the good and the bad. The conditions and requirements in Rawalpindi were different. We will assess and adapt [to the conditions of Karachi] and look to win the series. That will be our focus," concluded the batter.
