To Virender Sehwag's "Lord" Tweet, Shardul Thakur's Perfect Response

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Shardul Thakur dominated the news headlines with his power show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday. Shardul's blazing knock of 68 runs off 29 balls with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes. While the fans in the stadium witnessed a special innings, even the Twitterverse bowed down to the all-rounder's masterclass. On the occasion, Virender Sehwag held special praise for Shardul and Rinku, while calling both 'Lord'. Shardul later responded to Sehwag's tweet, suggesting it is from him that the players of today's generation have learned the art of 'clean hitting'.

"Lord Thakur ... # Cleanhitting" tweeted Virender Sehwag. In a video shared by the Indian Premier League, KKR players Rahmanullah Gurbaz asked Shardul about his take on Sehwag's tweet.

In reply, the India all-rounder said: "Paaji, aapsey hi seekhe tey clean hitting, we are just trying (Learnt from you, only)."

"No doubt it was a pressure situation but this is what we practice and train for. I am glad I could do it," he added.

After the end of the match, Shardul himself admitted that he doesn't quite know how he managed to pull off such a knock.

"I don't even know where it came from but looking at the scorecard at that time, everyone would have thought we are struggling. But your subconscious mind takes over. You also have to have skills to do that at a higher level, but we also work hard in the nets. There is a period where we can slog it in the nets. The coaching staff do the throwdowns and give us the option of range-hitting. And you know the pitches - they always suit the batsmen, don't they? Suyash bowled exceptionally well, and we know the quality Sunil and Varun have. They have fun, and take wickets. This was a perfect day," he said.

After beating Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders will square off against the defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

Who Is Suyash Sharma? Debutant KKR Msytery Spinner Who Rocked Kohli's RCB

Kolkata Knight Riders had a night to remember on Thursday as they registered a comfortable 81-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL 2023 match. Asked to bat first, KKR were 89/5 when Shardul Thakur (68) and Rinku Singh (46) stitched a long partnership and took their side to a total of 204/7 in 20 overs. Later, RCB were bundled out for 123 after Varun Chakaravarthy took a four-wicket haul. Apart from him, a big contribution in KKR's victory was made by debutant Suyash Sharma, who scalped three wickets and broke the backbone of RCB's batting line-up. As the match between the two teams ended, all the fans were eager to know about the 19-year-old spinner of KKR.

Suyash Sharma, a Delhi lad, was acquired by KKR for Rs 20 Lakh during the mini auction in December last year. Notably, the spinner was not named in the playing XI against RCB and was called-in as the impact player after replacing Venkatesh Iyer

Suyash plays for the U-25 team of Delhi and interestingly hasn't played any List A, FC, or T20 matches before today's game.

Speaking about Suyash after the match, KKR skipper Nitish Rana said, "Suyash is a confident young man and he has belief in himself. He made his chance count and it was great to see him bowl that way."

On the other hand, KKR coach Chandrakant Pandit said, "Varun bowled extremely well, even Sunny. And the newcomer provided support. We saw him in trial matches and were extremely happy with the way he bowled. He's quick through the air, difficult to pick. He's inexperienced but shows a very good attitude."

Coming to the match, Shardul Thakur smashed a counter-attacking half-century before the spinners played their part to perfection as Kolkata Knight Riders made a memorable homecoming with an 81-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL at Eden Gardens on Thursday.

KKR found themselves tottering for 89/5 before Thakur led a superb recovery with his 29-ball 68 to power his team to 204/7 after RCB opted to bowl.

Coming in at No 7, Thakur hammered the joint-fastest fifty of the season off 20 balls and shared an entertaining 103-run wicket partnership off 47 balls with Rinku Singh (46 off 33).

In reply, RCB failed to last the distance and folded up for 123 in 17.4 overs with the trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and debutant Suyash Sharma sharing eight wickets between themselves.

It was KKR's first win of the season. Thakur also took one wicket in his all-round show in KKR's first home match after almost four years.

With the win KKR rose from the seventh place to the the third place (2 points in 2 games, NRR +2.056) while RCB went down from the third place to seventh spot (2 points in 2 games, NRR -1.256). Orange Cap
There was no change in the highest run-scorers' list after the KKR vs RCB match. CSK's Ruturaj Gaikwad (149), Lucknow's Kyle Mayers (126) and PBKS' Shikhar Dhawan (126) hold the top three places in the race for Orange Cap.

Purple cap
There was no change in the top wicket-taker's list too after the KKR vs RCB match. LSG's Mark Wood (8 wickets), GT's Rashid Khan (5 wickets) and LSG's Ravi Bishnoi hold the the top three places in the race for Purple Cap.

Talking about the match, Rahmanullah Gurbaz stood tall amid the ruins with a maiden IPL fifty before Shardul Thakur's counter-attacking 68 from 29 balls propelled Kolkata Knight Riders to an imposing 204 for seven against Royal Challengers Bangalore here on Thursday.
On a day explosive KKR batter Andre Russell fell for a golden duck, Gurbaz (57; 44b) laid the foundation before Thakur showed his mettle as a powerhitter to take them past 200-mark after RCB opted to bowl.

First, it was the Afghanistan recruit who revived their fortunes from a sloppy start, before Thakur came in at No 7 to give the team a final flourish in an entertaining 103-run (47b) sixth wicket partnership with Rinku Singh (46; 33b).
