Video: Frustrated Rohit Sharma Scolds Shardul Thakur In Animated Outburst

The Indian cricket team wrapped up the 3-match series against New Zealand with a victory in the 3rd ODI as well, hence securing a 3-0 sweep. While Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were the top performers with the bat, scoring a century each, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav were the top wicket-takers, bagging three wickets each. It was Shardul who was eventually named the Player of the Match for his 3 for 45. Despite his terrific spell, there were moments in the match where Rohit wasn't impressed with the pacer.

Shardul go the important wickets of Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips in the middle overs, all but shifting the game in India's favour. However, there was one particular moment in the match when skipper Rohit wasn't happy with Shardul's application.

In fact, during the 27th over, Rohit walked up to Shardul and vented out his frustration at the sort of length the bowler was bowling. Even the commentators agreed with Rohit at that moment, suggesting Shardul should've been bowling better.

Here's the video:

Shardul has been in and out of the Indian team in the ODI format. Having been named the Player of the Match for the third ODI, the pacer's confidence would've earned a big boost. After the match, Rohit too reserved big praise for Shardul, calling him a 'magician'.

"We bowled pretty well, stuck to our plans and held our nerve. Shardul has been doing it for a while. Teammates call him a magician and he came and delivered yet again. He just needs to get more games under his belt," Rohit said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Watch: Yuzvendra Chahal Grabs Kuldeep Yadav's Ears, Indulges in Banter

India handed a 90-run defeat to New Zealand in the third and final ODI match on Tuesday to complete a series sweep. The game that took place at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore saw the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur star for India. In reply, the Blackcaps were bundled out for 295 runs as Shardul and Kuldeep picked three wickets apiece.

During the post-match presentation, a hilarious incident came to light in which Yuzvendra Chahal could be seen involved in banter with his teammate Kuldeep Yadav on the ground. While the left-arm spinner was talking to Mohammed Siraj, Chahal held Kuldeep's ears from behind and shook his head.

Airtel Raises Basic Tariffs By Nearly 57% In Seven Regions

Bharti Airtel, India's No. 2 telecom carrier by subscribers, has introduced a new entry level plan at Rs 155 in seven regions, the company's spokesperson said on Tuesday, effectively raising basic tariffs by nearly 57%.

The new plan was introduced in regions including the states of Karnataka, Bihar and Rajasthan, after discontinuing the existing tariffs of 99 rupees, the spokesperson added.

The company had late last year introduced the new plan on a trial basis in Odisha and Haryana.

Telecom firms were widely expected to hike tariffs to shore up revenues after having spent billions of dollars in the 5G auction last year.

Airtel's average revenue per user (ARPU), a key performance indicator for telecom firms, was 190 rupees in the September-quarter, a 3.8% sequential rise and a roughly 24% year-on-year increase.

The ARPU needed to be at 200 rupees and ultimately at 300 rupees for a financially healthy business model, Airtel said in November 2021, when it last raised tariffs.

Larger rival Reliance Jio, the telecom arm of billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries, had ARPU at 177.2 rupees in the September quarter which rose slightly to 178.2 rupees in the December quarter.

Jio, which disrupted the industry with cut-price rates in 2016, has not yet raised tariffs in over a year.

Rupee May Firm Past 81 Per US Dollar As Budget 2023 Looms

"He Had To Wait, But...": Sarfaraz Khan On Suryakumar Yadav Making It Big

When Sarfaraz Khan was not named in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against Australia, there was a huge furore on social media. Even cricket greats like Sunil Gavaskar slammed the Chetan Sharma-led All India Selection Committee for ignoring batter Sarfaraz, who is going through a purple patch in the domestic circuit. "He is not staying off the field when he is scoring hundreds, he is back on the field again. All that tells you that the man is fit for cricket. If you are looking for only slim and trim guys, then you might as well go to a fashion show and pick some models and then give them a bat and ball in their hand and then include them. You have cricketers in all shapes and sizes. Don't go by the size, but go by the runs and the wickets," Gavaskar had told India Today.

Indian fans on social media reacted quite angrily to the selection of Suryakumar Yadav, who has been doing well for India in the limited-overs formats, in the Tests against Australia over Sarfaraz, who has been getting tons of runs in first-class cricket.

However, Sarfaraz sees Suryakumar as an inspirational figure. The two have played together for a long time for their state team Mumbai.

"Surya is a very good friend of mine. Whenever we are in the same team, we spend a lot of time together. I learn a lot from him. Yes, he had to wait, but now he is using his experience very well," Sarfaraz Khan said in an interview with senior journalist Vimal Kumar.

Speaking on his preparation and his outlook towards the game, Sarfaraz said: "I only focus on hard work. I believe in doing as much hard work as possible. Whatever I have been following, I look to continue that. When I went out to bat, I wanted to repeat what I have been doing the last few years. I am a person who is attached to the ground. I practice a lot, and that's why my form is continuing."

"Run-rate Kharab Kar Jata Hai": Ex-Pakistan Cricketer's Dig At Babar Azam

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been under fire for his captaincy for quite a long time now. What adds to his problems is the fact that, of late, his batting has also come under scrutiny. Once touted as one of the best batters across the world, Babar Azam is undoubtedly not at his very best at present. While critics continue to lash out at him for his mediocre batting performance across formats, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has also joined the list.

"Babar Azam team ka run-rate kharaab kar jata hai (Babar Azam deteriorates the scoring rate of the team)," said Kaneria on his YouTube channel.

"If you see this Indian team, they are full of match winners. But on the Pakistan side, we heavily depend on Babar Azam in all three formats, and he only scores for himself."

"Babar Azam continues to score his own 50, 60, 70 runs and the team doesn't benefit from that at all, and it's just causing losses," said the former Pakistan spinner in Hindi.

After losing the T20 World Cup final to England last year, Pakistan hosted the Three Lions and New Zealand across three series but failed to win any. The Babar Azam-led side suffered a 3-0 clean sweep at the hands of England before playing a 0-0 draw in two-match series against New Zealand. All of them were Test matches.

Pakistan then faced New Zealand in a three-match ODI series which the hosts lost 1-2 despite taking an early lead in the series.

Kaneria said that Pakistan should learn from teams like India on how to use the home conditions to their advantage.

"Did we make any big score of note in the ODIs? Did anyone score double hundred? Was there any dominant performance? No. We need to learn from other countries like India who are exploiting their conditions. But here we are afraid of losing in our own conditions," Kaneria said.

Watch: Dravid's Blunt Response To Question On 'Kohli's T20I Future'

Ever since the 2022 T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli hasn't featured for India in the T20Is, though the team has played two T20I bilateral series after the mega event. Kohli was the highest run-getter at the 2022 T20 World Cup with a tally of 296 in six matches. He scored half-centuries in four of those games. His continued absence from the T20I side has led to question marks on his future in the format. The question once again got raised at the pre-match press conference ahead of India's third ODI against New Zealand. India head coach Rahul Dravid was present at the press meet.

"Till last year, Virat's position in the T20I team was in question..." a journalist asked, when Dravid interrupted him midway and said: "Not by us sir. Not at all, never by us!"

On being asked, why Kohli wasn't playing in the T20Is, despite being named in ICC's T20I team of the year (2022), Dravid said: "There are certain priorities we need to give to certain white-ball tournaments at particular stages of time. The amount of cricket we are playing…the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the World Test Championship, potential qualification, important games for qualification perspective for us. There are certain white-ball tournaments that we had to prioritise, the priority after the T20 World Cup has been these six games.

"As you've seen, Virat has played all these six games. He'll get a bit of a break along with Rohit and 1 or 2 other guys in the next week while we play some T20I cricket. And they come refreshed on the 2nd and we have a good week's camp before we play Australia. So yeah it's just priorities. We have to prioritise certain formats."

India next play against New Zealand in the final ODI of a three-match series on Tuesday. The Rohit Sharma-led side has already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

T20 Break For Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma, Says India Coach Rahul Dravid

India's omission of star Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma from an upcoming Twenty20 series against New Zealand is only intended to give them a rest, coach Rahul Dravid said Monday. The duo's absence from two successive series had stoked rumours that Hardik Pandya would take over as regular T20 captain Pandya led the team to a 2-1 T20 series win over Sri Lanka earlier this month and has been named captain for the New Zealand matches, starting with Friday's opener.

Speaking ahead of the final one-day international against New Zealand on Tuesday, Dravid said India would prioritise the 50-over format going into this year's Cricket World Cup.

"There are certain priorities we need to give to certain white-ball tournaments," said Dravid, whose team already have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series, told reporters in Indore.

India host Australia for four Tests starting February 9, followed by three ODI matches. "So the priority after last year's T20 World Cup has been these six games and Virat has played all these six games and he will get a bit of a break along with Rohit," Dravid said, referring to the ODIs against Sri Lanka and New Zeland.

Dravid was pressed further on India's plans for a split captaincy in different formats. "That's a question you need to ask the selectors but as of now, I don't think so," the 50-year-old said.

For Rishabh Pant's Recovery, Teammates Pray In Ujjain Temple

A few Indian cricket team members, who are in Madhya Pradesh for the third and final ODI against New Zealand, on Monday morning visited Ujjain's famed Mahakaleswar temple and offered prayers. The players, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar reached Mahakal temple with the staff of the Indian cricket team early Monday morning. Star batter of India Suryakumar Yadav said that they prayed to Mahakal for the speedy recovery of their teammate Rishabh Pant.

Pant was involved in a car crash on December 30 and suffered a number of serious injuries, however, he is making good progress with his recovery.

"We prayed for the speedy recovery of Rishabh Pant. His comeback is very important to us. We have already won the series against New Zealand, looking forward to the final match against them," Suryakumar Yadav told ANI.

The players and the staff also participated in the 'Bhasma Aarti' of Lord Shiva that was performed in the early morning hours at the temple. The players wore traditional attire - dhoti and angavastram - while posing with the staff of the Indian cricket team.

Team India will play the third and final match of the ODI series against New Zealand on Tuesday in Indore at the Holkar Stadium.

India secured a comprehensive eight-wicket win against New Zealand in the second ODI to secure their seventh consecutive ODI series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur on Saturday.
