"Made Only One Mistake...": Ex-India Star's Huge Remark On Rohit Sharma

India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after beating New Zealand by eight wickets in Raipur on Sunday. After being put in to bat, the Kiwis were bowled out for a paltry total of 108. In reply, captain Rohit Sharma made light work of the modest target, hitting a composed half-century, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40 to take India across the finishing line. After the conclusion of the match, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan hailed Rohit, saying that the modest total allowed him to play freely.

Irfan suggested that Rohit did well to bat on track which could've been tricky while chasing under the lights, and also pointed out the only mistake made by the 35-year-old.

"He made only one mistake when the ball hit his pads, there was an lbw appeal, they wanted to take the DRS but didn't take it. But other than that, he looked in complete control, we saw amazing shots, on the up on the offside and the leg side. I am repeatedly saying that you shouldn't worry too much about Rohit Sharma's form at all. This was his first half-century while chasing against New Zealand and it came at the right time. It wasn't easy to bat under these conditions as the ball was moving a lot under the lights. But, there was no scoreboard pressure and he achieved the milestone," Pathan said while speaking on the post-match show.

Rohit was dismissed on 51 (50) by Henry Shipley.

India and New Zealand will now square off in the third and final ODI on Tuesday.

On Virat Kohli vs Sachin Tendulkar Debate, Kapil Dev's No-Nonsense Reply

Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are arguably the two best batters of their respective eras. Tendulkar, who made his international debut in 1989, scored 100 centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs) before hanging his boots in 2013. Kohli, on the other hand, has been ruling the roost for more than a decade now. So far, Kohli has scored 74 international tons (27 in Tests, 46 in ODIs and one in T20Is), the most by any active players. The 34-year-old is just three ODI tons from equalling Tendulkar's all-time record of 49 hundreds.

While Kohli has often been compared to Tendulkar, opinions have been divided as to who is the greatest batter of all time.

During a recent interaction, India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, was asked to pick between the long-standing debate of who's the better batter between Sachin and Kohli.

However, Dev gave a perfect reply, saying that while anyone can have their picks, the new era will have better players, as compared to the previous ones.

"A player of that calibre, you don't have to pick one or two. It's a team of XI players. I might have my own likes or dislikes, but every generation is going to get better. In our time, Sunil Gavaskar was one of the finest then we saw Rahul Dravid, Sachin, Virender Sehwag and this generation Rohit, Virat and next generation will be better. You will see a better cricketer and performing better," Dev told Gulf News in an exclusive interview.

Speaking of Kohli, the former India captain has found his lost mojo, scoring three centuries in his last six ODI outings.

Sachin Tendulkar Indulges In Epic Banter With Ex-India Cricketers

During an SA20 League match between the Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings, a batter at the non-striker's end was dismissed after the ball hit the bowler's leg after the striker hit a shot off the delivery. Former India batter Aakash Chopra, who was commentating the match alongside ex-pacer RP Singh, shared his views on the incident. RP Singh, however, recalled an incident when he got Sachin Tendulkar run out in the same manner.

He added that he had apologised to Tendulkar straightaway after the incident, but Chopra poked fun at the former pacer, asking him to say sorry to the batting great once again.

"I have never been able to run out someone after the ball hit a part of my body while bowling but then I did hit a straight drive once while batting and the player at the non-striker's end was run out because of that," Singh replied.

Chopra later retweeted the video of the incident and apologised to Tendulkar, who then responded with a hilarious comment.

While also recalling the incident, he replied that for once the straight drive, a shot he had mastered during his playing career, was not his favourite stroke.

"For once, the straight drive wasn't my favorite shot! @cricketaakash. @rpsingh bhaiyya toh batting karte samay bhi wicket lete the! (RP Singh used to take wickets even when batting!)," Tendulkar responded to Chopra's tweeted.

Sachin Tendulkar retired from international cricket in November 2013 after playing a Test match at his home ground Wankhede Stadium.

He ended his career as the highest run-scorer in the history of Test cricket, having scored a total of 15,921 runs, a record which he hold till date.

Adani Group To Spin Off Hydrogen, Airports, Data Centre Businesses By 2028

Billionaire Gautam Adani's group plans to spin off businesses like hydrogen, airports and data centre between 2025 and 2028 after they achieve a certain investment profile, it's Chief Financial Officer Jugeshinder Singh said.

Adani Enterprises Ltd, which is looking to raise Rs 20,000 crore in a follow-on share sale, is the business incubator for the group. Over the years, businesses such as ports, power and city gas were first incubated in AEL before being spun off or demerged into separate listed companies.

AEL currently houses new businesses such as hydrogen, where the group plans to invest USD 50 billion over the next 10 years across the value chain, flourishing airport operations, mining, data centre and roads and logistics.

"The businesses have to achieve a basic investment profile and maturity before being considered for a demerger. Between 2025 and 2028 we think these businesses can achieve the desired levels for a demerger," Mr Singh told PTI.

The group is looking to become one of the lowest cost producers of hydrogen -- a fuel of the future that has zero carbon footprint. It is also betting big on its airport business with an aim to become the largest service base in the country in the coming years, outside of government services.

Mr Adani, 60, started as a trader and has been on a rapid diversification spree, expanding an empire centred on ports and coal mining to include airports, data centres and cement as well as green energy. He now owns a media company too.

Jugeshinder Singh said the follow-on share sale is aimed at widening the shareholder base by bringing in more retail, high networth and institutional investors.

This would also address concerns of liquidity by increasing the free float, he said, adding the company wants to increase the participation of retail investors and that is why it chose a primary issue instead of a rights issue.

AEL will use the money raised to fund green hydrogen projects, airport facilities and greenfield expressways, besides paring some of its debt.

It will sell shares in a price band of Rs 3,112 to Rs 3,276 apiece in the follow-on public offer (FPO), slated to open on January 27 and close on January 31, according to the offer letter.

Of the Rs 20,000 crore proceeds of the FPO, Rs 10,869 crore will be used for green hydrogen projects, work at the existing airports and construction of a greenfield expressway. Another Rs 4,165 crore will go towards repayment of debt taken by its airports, road and solar project subsidiaries.

AEL has been the vehicle for most of the new business expansion of Adani.

Its current business portfolio includes a green hydrogen ecosystem, data centres, developing airports, developing roads, food FMCG, digital, mining, defence and industrial manufacturing, among others.

As of September 30, 2022, it had Rs 40,023.50 crore in borrowing.

Watch: Steve Smith's Shot Hits Moises Henriques At Non-Striker End In BBL

Steve Smith was at his very best on Saturday as his side Sydney Sixers crushed Sydney Thunder by 125 runs in a Big Bash League match in Sydney. Sixers' skipper Moises Henriques won the toss and opted to bat first and what followed was a sensational unbeaten century from Smith as his side posted a total of 187 for 2 after the match was reduced to 19-overs-a-side due to rain. One of the highlights of Smith's marathon knock was the player accidentally hitting captain Henriques at the non-striker's end with a powerful shot.

It was the third ball of the 18th over of the Sixers' innings when Daniel Sams bowled a slower ball to Smith, who was then batting on 112 off 59 balls. Smith tried to go hard on the short ball but lack of timing saw him hitting the ball directly to Henriques at the non-striker's end. The ball hit Henriques around the box.

Luckily, the Sixers skipper escaped the scene unhurt and gave a thumbs up soon after he received the body blow.

Watch the video here:

Talking about the match, Smith scored 125 not out off 66 balls while Henriques scored 45 not out off 36 to help the Sydney Sixers post a big total on the board. Smith's knock was laced with five fours and nine sixes.

In reply, Sydney Thunder were bundled out for 62 runs as Steve O'Keefe picked four wickets and Sean Abbott took three. Ben Dwarshuis had two wickets in his kitty and Todd Murphy took the remaining one wicket.

"Shouldn't Have Been Named": Afridi Fumes At ODI Vice-Captain Selection

Pakistan interim chief selector Shahid Afridi spoke against the appointment of Shan Masood as the vice-captain of the ODI team for their recently-concluded series against New Zealand. Pakistan announced a 16-member squad for the three-match home series against the Blackcaps that took place in January this year. Masood, who missed ODI cricket for more than three years, got a chance to play against New Zealand in the third ODI, however, this time his inclusion was not only as a player but also as the deputy to Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

In a recent interview, Afridi revealed that Masood was not under consideration by either him or Babar in the first two ODIs against New Zealand. He added that the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman should have consulted him and captain Babar before naming Masood as vice-captain.

"Shan Masood should not have been named as vice-captain of the ODI squad. Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should have taken captain or chief selector under confidence; he was neither under consideration by me nor by Babar Azam for the first two ODIs against New Zealand," said Afridi as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

"Shan Masood cannot be named as captain or vice-captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team based on his performances for Derbyshire," he added.

Pakistan lost the three-match ODI series against New Zealand 2-1 despite getting an early lead in the series. The hosts won the first game by 6 wickets, before losing the second game by 79 runs. In the series decider, Pakistan suffered a 2-wicket loss. All the matches took place at the National Stadium, Karachi.

"If You Have Doubt...": Shami's Blunt Response To 'ODI World Cup' Question

Mohammed Shami made the ball talk on Saturday against New Zealand in the second ODI in Raipur. He took three wickets and formed a lethal bowling partnership with the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya. Courtesy of the Indian bowlers' might, New Zealand were reduced to 15/5 at one stage. The Blackcaps somewhat recovered to put up a 108-run total, which the Indian team chased down in 20.1 overs. Courtesy of the win, India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series against New Zealand.

After the match, Shami was asked at a press conference whether Team India was on the right track to build a team ahead of the ODI World Cup, to be held at home later this year.

Shami replied: "Dekhiye, mujhe nahi lagta logo ko abhi tak doubt hai Indian team ke upar. Aapko itne acche results diye hai 4-6 saalo mei. Agar uske baad bhi aapko doubt hai, ya aap World Cup ke liye sochte hai...bahut lamba time hai. Toh humare pass bahut series hai, practice karne ke liye, match khelne ke liye. Aur players ko jaan ne ke liye. Toh abhi humare pass time hai toh behetar hoga ki hum match-to-match jaaye. (See, I don't think people have doubt over the Indian team. We have been giving good results in past 4-6 years. If still have any doubts, we have a lot of time left for the World Cup. We have many series for match practice. We have more time to know players. We have time so it's better to take it match-to-match)."

Talking about the match, India's relentless pace attack ran through a fragile New Zealand batting line-up as the hosts cantered to an eight-wicket win in the second ODI to seal the three-match series on Saturday The Mohammed Shami-led attack produced an incisive effort to bowl out New Zealand for a meagre 108 before India knocked off the runs in 20.1 overs. Rohit Sharma hit a sublime 50 off 51 balls while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40 off 53 deliveries.

It was an emphatic win but the sea of fans that had flocked the remotely located Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium for Raipur's first international game was left wanting for more due to the early finish.

Shami (3/18) and Mohammed Siraj (1/10) made life tough for the batters with their high-quality seam bowling reducing New Zealand to a dismal 15 for five after Rohit opted to bowl. The odd ball stopping made the New Zealand batters' job tougher though the Indian openers made batting look easy in the evening.

The third and final ODI will be played in Indore on Tuesday.

"Smoothman": Sunil Gavaskar Gives Shubman Gill New Nickname. Star Reacts

Shubman Gill has been impressive, to say the least, with his recent outings. Among his list of admirers is the great Sunil Gavaskar too. Gill recently became the eighth batter to score a double ton in the ODI format. He 208 against New Zealand in the first ODI. Currently, the 23-year-old averages an astounding 71.38 in ODIs after playing 20 games. He has reached the triple-figure mark thrice in the 50-over format. Even in the second ODI on Sunday, Gill stayed unbeaten on 40 to ensure that India go past the 109-run target set by New Zealand without any hiccups.

After the match, Gill had a fun chat with Gavaskar. "I have given you a new nickname, Smoothman Gill. I hope you don't mind," Sunil Gavaskar during an interview after India's win in the second ODI against New Zealand in Raipur on Saturday.

Gill replied, "I don't mind at all, sir."

In the first ODI against New Zealand, Gill also completed 1000 runs in just 19 innings. He is the fastest Indian to reach the mark, surpassing Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan - both of whom scored 1000 runs in the format in 24 innings.

Gill is also now the joint second-fastest ever to score 1000 runs along with Pakistan's Imam-ul-Haq. In completing 1000 runs in 19 innings, Gill surpassed the likes of Viv Richards, Babar Azam, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen - all of whom scored 1000 ODI runs in 21 innings. Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman (18 innings) is the fastest to 1000 runs in ODIs.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has also praised Gill's batting. "I became a big fan of Shubman Gill ever-since I saw him playing in the Test championship final against New Zealand. His elegance and style in his strokes are really commendable. The only concern I had was that why isn't he able to achieve a big score. But he played a very different kind of cricket yesterday. Very less people have such type of finish in their style at such a young age. I think he is one of his kind. I am not saying that he has achieved everything in his career but if he continues to play like this and work hard then he will be on the path where he will achieve greatness," Butt said on his YouTube channel.

Women's U-19 T20 WC: India's Unbeaten Run Ends With Loss To Australia

India's unbeaten run at the Women's U-19 T20 World Cup came to an end with a seven-wicket thrashing by Australia in the Super Six stage at Potchefstroom on Saturday. Invited to bat, the India batters, who have looked formidable so far in the tournament, were blown away as Australia skittled them for a paltry 87 in 18.5 overs. India had managed to defend 97 against Australia in a warm-up game earlier this month but the Shafali Verma-led side couldn't repeat the feat as its opponents raced to the finish line with 37 balls to spare.

The loss has dented India's net run rate (+1.905), which could play a vital role in deciding who qualifies for the semifinals. The Women in Blue have dropped to second place behind Australia in the Super Six Group 1.

Australia, India, South Africa and Bangladesh all have four points while Sri Lanka and UAE are on zero points.

It was a day when India's strong batting line-up looked clueless. After conceding a couple of boundaries, Milly Illingworth (2/12) got the prized wicket of the Indian skipper as Shafali (8), once again, fell early.

The Australian quick then struck in her next over, as Gongadi Trisha (4) edged the ball and wicketkeeper Paris Hall did the rest.

The Australian bowlers were all over India with Sonia Mendhiya (2) crumbling under pressure.

With wickets falling like nine pins at the other end, Shweta Sehrawat (21) tried to relieve the pressure by collecting a boundary an over with the dangerous Richa Ghosh (7) also joining her with a four, but the keeper-batter was sent back to the hut two balls later, leaving India at 43/4.

Sehrawat was dismissed for the first time in the tournament by Sianna Ginger, who went on to claim Parshavi Chopra (8) and Mannat Kashyap's (1) wicket in her next two overs, finishing with figures of 3 for 13.

With the top-order falling early, the onus was on the middle-order batters to get some runs on the board in the crucial clash, but they too wilted under pressure as only three Indians managed to reach double digit scores.

In reply, the Australians came out all guns blazing and the Indian bowlers had no answer. They leaked runs before Titas Sadhu (1/13), Archana Devi (1/7) and Sonam Yadav (1/22) took a wicket each.

'No Rocket Science': Ashwin On India's Chances Of Winning ODI World Cup

The Indian cricket team will be going into the ODI World Cup 2023 as favourites as the knowledge of the pitches and conditions can turn out to be crucial, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said on Friday. Ashwin, who won the World Cup in 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, also pointed out that India have beaten all teams in home conditions and that will be a major boost for Rohit Sharma & Co. However, the one issue that Ashwin believes that can derail the hosts' campaign can be the fact that the tournament will be played at different venues and adaptability can prove to be a challenge for the cricketers.

"India's ODI home record ever since the 2019 World Cup finished is extremely impressive. India has won against every team that's travelled to India in this space, which are the West Indies, Australia, England, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. India's home record is 14-4 in this space, which is a 78 to 80 percent win record in India. All 18 of these ODIs have happened in different venues every single time (14 venues). If you have to compare the same spree with Australia or England, the venues are pretty stock standard. They play all their Test matches at 4-5 venues, the ODIs at 2-3 venues, and so they know their venues are the back of their hand," he said in a video published on YouTube.

The home advantage is expected to help India considering the stellar form in all series since the last World Cup in 2019 but Ashwin said that a lot can depend on the rest of the fixtures in 2023.

"Since the 2011 World Cup, all teams have managed to win their home World Cup: India in 2011, Australia in 2015 and England in 2019. This is no rocket science, knowing your conditions is extremely important. However, for India, in this regard is going to be a bit of short-changed because of the number of venues we play these games in. Every single time you play in some of these venues the wickets are going to be different. India does not have a stock standard Test, ODI or T20I season. You don't know how the FTP is going to pan out but it gets hard from the team or player's perspective," he said.

Here's How India's Top Renewable Energy Stocks Will Perform In 2023

Last year we wrote to you about what to expect from India's top renewable energy stocks in 2022.

We mentioned the leading companies in the space and their plans in the coming years.

The renewable energy (RE) theme has picked up with India quickly becoming one of the world leaders in embracing the transition to renewable energy.

The country is combating climate change head-on. What started as a renewable energy target of 225 GW by 2022, was upgraded to 450 GW by 2030, and eventually to 50% of the country's energy being derived through renewable means by 2030.

This was complemented by earnest policy reforms. In a decisive move, the Indian government implemented customs tariff of 40% on solar energy modules and 25% on solar energy cells, providing the domestic sector empowering the sector to achieve scale, economy, and export competitiveness.

These ambitious targets are backed by actual announcements made by some of the top business houses in the country. This includes commitments by state-owned NTPC at 60 GW, Adani Green Energy at 45 GW and Tata Power, ReNew Power, and Acme Solar at 25 GW each.

As of March 2022, India's renewable energy capacity stood at 156.61 GW, representing 39.2% of the overall installed power capacity and providing a great opportunity for the expansion of green data centres.

Solar energy was the biggest contributor in the total renewable energy capacity addition with a share of 34.5% followed by wind with a 25.8% share.

The renewable sector added more new capacity than conventional energy sector in 2022 for the fourth year in a row, clean energy accounting for close to half of the total installed energy capacity in the country.

While solar and wind energy sources were the frontrunners in the renewable energy race, green hydrogen has garnered a lot of attention lately.

There is growing excitement that green hydrogen could be the fuel of the future, backed by renewable energy. This offers tremendous potential for growth and is quickly turning into an investing megatrend.

It has reached a point where economic progress over the next century, may just be defined by climate investments. This bodes well for the companies leading the renewable energy race.

However, investing in companies generating renewable energy is not the only way to ride this wave. You can also look at the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who also stand to benefit tremendously, offering robust returns.

Last time we spoke about Websol Energy and Sterling Wilson Solar. While these names are still relevant we have added more to the list.

So, with this in mind, we highlight the renewed list of the top 3 renewable energy stocks and what you can expect from them in 2023.

#1 Websol Energy

First on our list is Websol Energy.

Websol Energy is a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic monocrystalline solar cells and modules in India.

When we last wrote the piece the company was well on its way to expand its capacity in 2022. While the expansion plans are still on track the company intends to more than seven-fold their existing capacity (around 250 MW) to retain its position as one of the largest producers of solar cells in India.

Moreover, it has outlined ambitious plans to mobilise funds for upgrading its existing equipment with the latest and most efficient technology. This places the company well to profit from the green energy revolution.

Websol went into business as a fully export-oriented unit catering to Europe (mainly Germany and Italy) and the US. They have been in this business for over two decades now and enjoy a reputation for high-quality products. They offer a wide array of products ranging from 5 W to 220 W, catering to the demands of home, commercial and industrial institutions.

While the company has grown its sales by 38.8% in the last year the net profit dropped 80%. But this is an aberration as margins didn't fall much in the financial year 2022. However, the company's profits were higher in the financial year 2021 due to a one-time exceptional item which make 2022 look bad. The balance sheet is well funded with negligible debt on the books.

The company's patchy past performance is largely owing to weak power demand, intense competition from China and the pandemic.

Now, with the ongoing capacity expansion, the company is unlikely to churn out a profit in the near term. However, this should be temporary, considering the new capacity will make them highly efficient and well-poised to benefit from this investing megatrend.

#2 Sterling and Wilson

Next on our list the same company we mentioned in our previous piece, Sterling and Wilson Solar.

Sterling and Wilson Solar is a global holistic solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solutions provider with a wide presence across 26 countries.

The company's unexecuted EPC order book stood at Rs.26 bn as of October 2022, with nearly 78% domestic EPC, indicating healthy growth in business in the coming year. The domestic business offers wider margins and is likely to boost profits. This in tandem with sliding input costs bodes well for the company in the coming years.

Back when we wrote the previous article, the company had two large EPC projects with a total capacity of 400 MW are being constructed in the US.

However, that activity had stalled considerably in 1HCY22 due to Department of Commerce investigation on import of modules. But the new directive in June 2022 has given relief to module imports allowing the company to continue its work.

Sterling and Wilson Solar added significant capacity which will come online by the end of the financial year 2023. Moreover, it's expanding its renewable energy offerings to include EPC solutions for hybrid energy power plants, energy storage and waste to energy.

Acquired by Reliance in 2021 (40% stake), the company provides EPC services primarily for utility-scale solar power projects. It has executed projects of more than 10 GW capacity across geographies including Australia, USA, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. International operations account for more than 80% of the total revenues.

The unprecedented commodity super cycle over the last two years coupled with covid led to Solar Industry suffering huge losses and IPP's deferring projects. The sales and gross profit growth in the past year was 2.3% and 38% respectively. The company is incurring a loss at the net level.

However, this is likely to change with the fresh set of announcements. The solar installations have grown at 15% CAGR in the past 5 years and are likely to replicate the same going forward.

Moreover, the company's strong balance sheet will also assist it grow further.

#3 Borosil Renewables

The third company on our list is a new entrant, Borosil Renewables. Borosil Renewables is the first and only solar glass manufacturer in India.

The company has chalked out an expansion plan which will take its Indian capacity of 450 TPD (tonnes per day) to 1,000 TPD by October 2022 and 2,100 TPD by the financial year ending 2025. This will result in a capital outlay of around Rs 15 bn.

Moreover, it recently acquired the Interfloat group, the largest manufacturer of solar glass in Europe, with an operational manufacturing capacity of 300 TPD in Germany. They plan to increase this to 500 TPD by 2023. While this may seem ambitious, the company has achieved such a feat.

Borosil Renewables, part of the six decades old Borosil Group, commissioned its first solar glass manufacturing facility at Baruch in Gujarat in January 2010 with 180 TPD capacity. This was expanded to 450 TPD or 2.8 GW of solar modules. The current capacity can power up to 2.5 gigawatts (GW) of solar power.

In the solar panel glass business, Borosil meets 40% of the domestic demand of 650 tonnes of glasses per day, while the rest is imported from China and Malaysia. Apart from fulfilling the country's growing demand for solar glass, the company also ships to Germany Poland, Canada, the US, Mexico, and the Middle East. This comprises almost 20% of its present solar panel glass capacity.

The sales have grown by 28% in the past year, recovering well from the slowdown due to the pandemic. However, the profits have skyrocketed, doubling in the same period. The strong profitability has boosted the return on equity. It's up from 14% in the financial year 2021 to 21% in the financial year 2022.

The company boasts a strong balance sheet with low debt-to-equity of 0.2 times. The interest coverage ratio is very high at 79.5 times in the financial year 2022.

In conclusion

The renewable energy sector continues to remain a favourite among industrialists and investors across the world. The high ticket investments have placed the sector, and the companies operating in it, on the fast track to growth in the coming years.

The plans of a company are a great insight into its long-term vision. It helps in analysing and understanding the steps it would take to achieve the same.

Therefore, an investor must pay extra attention to these plans. Analyse them well to comprehend whether the company's roadmap is feasible or not. Only then can you make the right choice.

"Completely Lost It": Brett Lee On Arshdeep Singh's "Hapless" No-Ball Show

Arshdeep Singh had a horror outing a fortnight back as the young pacer became the first bowler in the history of the T20Is to bowl five no balls in one game. Arshdeep registered the unwanted record during a T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune. As a result of him overstepping, India conceded 16 runs, and went on to lost the game by the exact margin. Notably, Arshdeep had returned to India's playing XI in that match, after having recovered from an injury. Now, former Australia pacer Brett Lee has shared his views on the 'no-ball' show, suggesting that Arshdeep "completely lost it".

"I saw India's Arshdeep Singh completely lose it in that T20 game against Sri Lanka a few days back. He bowled no ball after no ball after no ball. 5 no balls in that game. It would be a hard pill to swallow for him. He only bowled two overs conceding 37 runs. And he was returning to the side after being side-lined with an injury. He overstepped three times in a row in his second over. Sometimes a bowler can lose rhythm when they are coming back from an injury because they are trying too hard. They lose their shape and momentum. It's tough because you want to achieve that dream of picking wickets and keep the captain happy," Lee said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

However, Lee is confident that Arshdeep has the ability to make a comeback, and advised the youngster to start from scratch.

"No ball is a bowler's worst enemy. Nothing costs a bowler more mental agony and embarrassment than a no ball because you not only have to bowl an extra delivery, you give the license to the batter to do anything he/she wants. It's a dagger through the bowler's heart. I believe Arshdeep has the goods to back it up. My advice to him would be go back to training, delete it, find out what you did wrong and learn from that mistake," he added.

Arshdeep did not find a place in India's squad for the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand, but could feature in the upcoming T20Is against the Kiwis.
